Call for Papers: Inaugural Issue of Károli English Studies

We are pleased to invite submissions for the inaugural issue of Károli English Studies: A Central European Journal, a new annual, open-access scholarly journal published by the Institute of English Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary.

The journal is closely connected to the Károli English Studies Conference and provides a publication forum for original research across the broad field of English Studies. We welcome work in literary and cultural studies, media studies, linguistics, applied linguistics, translation studies, and English-language teaching.

Presenters at the 2026 Károli English Studies Conference are particularly invited to develop their conference papers into full-length articles. The journal also welcomes submissions from graduate students, doctoral researchers, and early-career scholars more broadly, including authors from institutions outside Hungary and Central Europe.

Articles should be written in English and should normally be between 5,000 and 6,000 words, including footnotes and bibliography. Manuscripts should follow the Chicago Manual of Style, using the Notes and Bibliography system, and should include an abstract of approximately 250 words and five keywords.

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening followed, where appropriate, by double-anonymous editorial review by at least two qualified editors. External specialist evaluation may be sought where necessary. Conference participation does not guarantee publication.
